A damper or shock absorber is a device that uses damping characteristics to slow mechanical vibration and kinetic energy. It is commonly used in car suspension systems and motorcycles, and some bicycles also have shock absorbers. Some skyscrapers also have dampers for earthquake-proof considerations, such as Taipei 101, Kaohsiung 85 Building, etc.
